MileHigh Prep Report Boys Basketball Week 8 Rankings

We are in full swing of League games and lots of quality games and plenty of movement in the rankings.  My 3 #1’s all remain the same this week but there are plenty of new teams in the rankings this week.

Class 3A                                                                           Last Week

1.     Sterling (13-0) 1 (6 weeks)
2.     Vanguard (12-2) 2
3.     Manual (11-2) 3
4.     Kent Denver (11-2) 4
5.     Faith Christian (11-4) 5
6.     Resurrection Christian (10-4) 6
7.     Colorado Academy (9-4) 8
8.    Bayfield (10-4) NR
9.     Lamar (10-3) 9
10.   Delta (9-4) NR
·         Others: Colorado Springs Christian, Centauri, Lutheran, Middle Park, St. Mary’s, Roaring Fork, Alamosa, DSST-Stapleton, Lutheran, Pagosa Springs, Gunnison

Dropped out: Alamosa (7), Gunnison (10)

Notes: The Top 6 all stay the same this week despite some losses to Top 10 teams.  Two new teams join the rankings this week.  Bayfield jumps into the Top 10 again at #8 and Delta also joins the rankings at #10.  Alamosa has lost 3 straight games and falls out of the rankings and Gunnison lost to Roaring Fork and fall out of the rankings.

Class 2A                                                                     Last Week

1.     Yuma (11-1) 1 (8 weeks)
2.     Holly (15-0) 2
3.     Highland (12-1) 3
4.     Fowler (11-3) 5
5.    Byers (10-3) 4
6.     Simla (8-3) 6
7.     Denver Christian (10-3) 7

10.  Sedgwick County (9-4) 10
·         Others: Sargent, Peyton, Dolores Huerta, Sanford, John Mall, Mancos, Heritage Christian, Wray, Del Norte, Ignacio

Dropped out: Rocky Ford (10)

Notes: No changes in the Top 10 this week.  Vail Christian lost to #1 De Beque in 1A but was only by 4 so I left them in the Top 10.  Sedgwick County lost to Perkins CO NE but beat Merino and stay just ahead of Sargent this week.

Class 1A                                                                          Last Week

1.     De Beque (14-0) 1 (3 weeks)

3.      Sangre De Cristo (9-1) 3
4.     Walsh (7-4) 6
5.     Kit Carson (10-4) 8
6.     Haxtun (9-4) 4
7.     Peetz (8-4) 5
8.     Springfield (9-4) 9
9.      Evangelical Christian (10-3) 10
10.     Prairie (10-5) NR
·         Others: Merino, Cheraw, Front Range Baptist, Arickaree/Woodlin, Otis, Ouray, Briggsdale, Longmont Christian, Genoa-Hugo, Mile High Academy

Dropped out: Cheraw (7)

Notes: Big shake up in 1A after a few upsets.  The top 3 all remain the same.  Haxtun and Peetz both were upset this weekend and drop in the rankings.  Haxtun drops to #6 and Peetz to #7.  Walsh and Kit Carson move up to #4 and #5.  Springfield lost to Kit Carson but move up to #8 and Evangelical Christian also moves up 1.  Prairie moves into the rankings with the upset over Peetz.  Prairie did lose head to head to Merino, but Merino 4-8 record keeps them 1 spot out of the rankings.  Cheraw also was upset in OT by Cheyenne Wells and falls out of the rankings.
