Girls Basketball Players of the Week for Week 7 (Class 3A thru 1A)
What I have decided to do is have 4 players of the week. I am picking the players of the week by looking at wins over quality opponents. I know a lot of teams don’t post stats, but I am open to receiving stats by email to get players some recognition. The order of the players does not matter they are just listed.
Class 1A
Lexi Metz Jr. Sangre De Cristo HS, 12 points and 9 steals against La Veta
Kendyl Kirkwood So. Fleming HS, 20 points and 15 rebounds against Briggsdale
Taira Weber So. Wiley HS, 19 points and 7 rebounds against Eads

Taby Jones So. Wray HS, 15 points and 6 rebounds against Haxtun
Kendra Parra Jr. Del Norte HS, 20 points and 5 rebounds against Sanford
Brianna Denton Sr. Swink Hs, 20 points and 4 rebounds against Sangre De Cristo
Cody Robinson Sr. Yuma HS, 16 points against Holyoke
Class 3A
Lilly Lavier Jr. Alamosa HS, 12 points and 7 rebounds against Centauri
Megan Engesser Sr. C.S Christian, 14 points and 15 rebounds against St. Mary’s
Brecken Payne Sr. Lamar HS, 19 points and 12 rebounds against Sterling

I didn’t go all the way back to 1/14 to pick players of the week for this past week. I only went back to 1/21. For Cortez they are the second to worst team in the IML. All four girls selected played against tougher or equal to opponents. Now if she puts #’s like that up against Centauri in their next game she will be recognized.
