Top Returning Defense’s 8-man

I have decided with 8-Man and 6-Man to not do the offensive lineman.  It’s very tough to pick the best returning offensive lineman and in 8-Man and 6-man it’s even harder.  I am planning on for Classes 2A thru 6-Man to do Top WR’s, Top returning Tacklers, and most Interceptions.  These will all be released next week along with my Preseason Rankings.

High School Stats
Sedgwick County Their defense gave up just 110 points last year which was the best in 8-Man.  Sedgwick County is one of the few teams that can lose a ton of top players and just reload, and this year seems to be the same.  Sedgwick County will return their top two tacklers with Dalton Carlson and Beau Parker.  Sedg Co also return 7 of their top 11 tacklers.  They do lose some size with from last year but look for some players to step up this year.
Mancos HS Their defense gave up 146 points last year which was 5th best in 8-man.  Mancos had a very improved season last year and will hope to build on it again this year.  Mancos defensively returns a ton of talent.  Mancos will return their leading tackler Colt Fury and also return 8 of their 11 top tacklers.  Mancos may be a team to watch in 2019.
Fowler HS Their defense gave up 269 points last year which was 19th best in 8-man.  Fowler returns their leading tackers from last year’s defense but do lose leadership from last year’s team.  Gabriel Proctor and Jonathan Mobbley must step up to lead this defense.  Fowler returns plenty of talent on defense with 7 of their 11 top tacklers returning.  Fowler though must find leadership on defense and improve to a top 10 defense to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Caliche HS Their defense gave up 178 points last year which was 8th best in 8-man.  Caliche will have to find leadership on defense but look to Dylan Huss and Ezekiel Johnson to step up and lead this defense.  Caliche also returns 7 of their 11 top tacklers.  Caliche will look to match last year’s defense if not improve it to a top 3 defense.
Pikes Peak Christian Their defense gave up 160 points last year which was 6th best in 8-man.  Pikes Peak Christian returns their leading two tacklers in Andrew Harris and Hudson Grant.  Pikes Peak Christian had a great season last year and will hope to continue the success.  Pikes Peak Christian returns 7 of their 11 top tacklers and have plenty of depth as well.
Dayspring Christian Their defense gave up 313 points last year which was 23rd best in 8-man.  Dayspring Christian will be looking to improve their defense and jump into the Top 10.  Dayspring Christian has a new head coach and possibly a new scheme on defense.  Dayspring Christian will return their leading tackler Austin Mclean also with 7 of their 11 top tacklers.
Dove Creek HS Their defense gave up 337 points last year which was 27th best in 8-man.  Dove Creek must improve inside the Top 15 defensively to improve or make the playoffs this year.  Dove Creek will return leading tackler Wyatt Kennedy but must replace some leadership lost to graduation.  Look for Walker Cressler to step up and help lead this defense and Dove Creek returns 9 of their 11 top tacklers.
Sanford HS Their defense gave up 181 points last year which was 9th best in 8-man.  Sanford took a big step last year going 6-3 but missed the playoffs.  Look for this defense to improve this year with leading tackler Thomas Faucette coming back.  Sanford also returns 7 of their 11 top tacklers.  Look for Sanford to make a run for the playoffs this year.
Hoehne HS Their defense gave up 250 points last year which was 16th best in 8-man.  Hoehne will be losing some leadership with their top two tacklers graduating.  Hoehne though has a deep sophomore class and look for Shane Montoya and Dario Orozco to step up and lead this defense.  Hoehne plays a physical style football so I expect this defense to still be very tough.
Merino HS Their defense gave up 200 points last year which was 11th best in 8-man.  Merino seems to always have a tough defense and will have some holes to fill next year but they do return leading tackler Trent Elliott.  Merino also returns 6 of their 11 top tacklers.  Merino has some holes but I still expect Merino to be a top 15 defense.
Sargent HS Their defense gave up 215 points last year which was 15th best in 8-man.  Sargent has some holes to fill losing leading tackler and the leader of the defense.  Sargent does have a solid upcoming Junior Class and expect them to take a step forward this year.  Braxton Asbell and Kage Pepper will have to step up and lead this defense next year.  Sargent also returns 6 of their 11 top tacklers.
Holly HS Their defense gave up 250 points last year which was 16th best in 8-man.  Holly is losing some leadership on defense graduating their top 3 tacklers.  Holly though has some talent coming back and look for Grayden Flint, Diego Tamayo, and Andy Ramos to step up and lead this defense.  Holly will need some underclassmen to really step up this year.
Simla HS Their defense gave up 117 points last year which was 2nd in 8-man.  Simla took a big step forward last year getting into the playoffs. Simla is now hoping to build off the success last year and keep their defense in the Top 5.  Simla will have to replace some leaders on defense losing their top 3 tacklers.  Simla though has some talent coming back with 7 of their top 11 tacklers coming back.  Leadership will be key for this defense.
Calhan HS Their defense gave up 288 points last year which was 20th best in 8-man.  Last year was Calhan first year in 8-man and I am expecting them to get going in the right direction this year.  Calhan returns leading tackler Gage Alexander along with 6 of their 11 top tacklers.  Calhan could take a big step this year, but their defense must improve to a Top 15 if not a top 10 defense.
Front Range Christian Their defense gave up 302 points last year which was 22nd in 8-man.  Front Range Christian must take steps to improve their defense this year and they should with this being their second year in 8-man.  Front Range Christian returns leading tackler Josh Lang along with 9 of their 11 top tacklers.  Their defense must step up this year to have a deeper run in the playoffs.
Other Defenses to Watch For: Vail Christian, Rangely, Springfield, West Grand, Elbert, Del Norte, Custer County, Haxtun, Norwood, Soroco, South Park
