Mile High Prep Reports Top Returning Defense’s 6-Man Football

Picking the best returning defenses is not an easy task but of course it’s always fun to take a look.  Defense is 6-Man is very underrated but after Fleming dominate performance on defense last year I think it’s very important.  I am using PPG given up last year and seeing what teams are returning.  This is one of my favorite articles to write and defense usually wins championships.  I will release my preseason 6-Man Top 10 tomorrow.

High SchoolStats
Cheyenne WellsTheir defense gave up 145 points last year which was 5th best in 6-Man.  Cheyenne Wells is returning one of the top defenses from last year and I expect a very similar showing this year.  Cheyenne Wells returns 7 of their top 8 tacklers from a year ago.  Ty Scheler, Dillon Ball, and a healthy Cade Mitchek should power Cheyenne Wells to a top 5 defense.
StrattonTheir defense gave up 160 points last year which was 8th best in 6-man.  Stratton had to have younger kids step-up last year and should lead to a top defense this year.  Stratton returns 6 of their top 8 tacklers including Riggin Williams and Alex Cruz.  I expect to see Stratton once again as a top 10 defense this year.
GranadaTheir defense gave up 269 points last year which was 24th best in 6-Man.  Granada defense is better than what their PA shows and a few very high scoring games towards the end of the year made their points against much higher.  Granada returns 7 of their top 8 tacklers including Bailey Hernandez and Lupe Martinez.  Granada should see their defense improve inside the top 15 this year.
Branson/KimTheir defense gave up 206 points last year which was 19th best in 6-man.  Branson/Kim played a tough schedule last season and were young last year starting mostly sophomores and freshman.  The experience of last year should help Branson/Kim improve to a top 12 defense.  Branson/Kim returns 7 of their top 8 tacklers including Cade Smith and Bridger Keeler.
Kit CarsonTheir defense gave up 176 points last year which was 10nd best in 6-man.  Kit Carson defensively kept themselves in games last year and helped them reach the playoffs.  Kit Carson was young last season, and we should see that experience payoff.  Kit Carson returns 7 of their top 8 tackles and should help them stay inside the top 10.  Kit Carson returns key leaders in Paul Mitchek and Alex Mitchek.
IdaliaTheir defense gave up 176 points last year which was 11th best in 6-man.  Idalia returns nearly their entire team this season and are poised for a big run.  Idalia returns their top 8 tacklers from a year ago and we should see this defense improve.  Top returning tacklers include Eduardo Estrada, Kagen Hoyda, and Koy Smith.
FlemingTheir defense gave up 171 points last year which was 9th best in 6-man.  Fleming defense will be hurt by graduation losing some key pieces to a defense that really flew around.  Fleming does return 4 of their top 8 tacklers.  I don’t expect to see much of a drop off from Fleming and look for Nolan Japp, Joel Muller, and Blake Feather to all step up to lead the defense from Fleming.
PrairieTheir defense gave up 204 points last year which was 18th best in 6-man.  Prairie played a tough schedule a year ago and the experience of playing top offenses should help this season.  Prairie returns 5 of their top 8 from a year ago including their top 4 tacklers.  Key leaders returning are Parker Jaeger, Andy Long, and Claytin Hove.
Mountain ValleyTheir defense gave up 109 points last year which was 2nd best in 6-Man.  Mountain Valley defensively was stout a year ago and I expect a similar performance this season.  Mountain Valley returns 7 of their top 8 tackles and were young a season ago.  Mountain Valley will turn to Ziah Pesqueira and Kodiak Reigel to step up as leaders this season.
CherawTheir defense gave up 155 points last year which was 6h best in 6-Man.  Cheraw had a solid season defensively and offensively a year ago and look for them to take a big step this season.  Cheraw will have a few holes to fill on defense losing their top 2 tacklers from last season but return 6 of their top 8 tacklers.  Cheraw will turn to Braeden Harris and Jace Joose to become leaders on defense.
Arickaree/WoodlinTheir defense gave up 186 points last year which was 15th best in 6-Man.  Arickaree/Woodlin was young a season ago and return key pieces on both offense and defense.  Arickaree/Woodlin defensively returns 7 of their top 8 tacklers and we should see an improvement on defense.  Arickaree/Woodlin will look to standout performances from Samuel Koolstra and Logan Wright.
BriggsdaleTheir defense gave up 156 points last year which was 7th best in 6-Man.  Briggsdale will once again have their eyes set on a playoff run and I think a big part of that will be their defense.  Briggsdale returns 5 of their top 8 tackles including Tanner Fiscus, Malik Carlson, and Shane Donoho.  Briggsdale should stay inside the top 10 on defense this year and if they do look for a big run.
EadsTheir defense gave up 208 points last year which was 20th best in 6-man.  Eads defensively will look for some new leadership after losing some key pieces from last years team.  Eads returns 5 of their top 8 tackles including Porter Spady and Ty Wilson.  Eads will lean on they key experience of last year to power them this year.
Sierra GrandeTheir defense gave up 182 points last year which was 12th best in 6-man.  Sierra Grande took big steps a season ago and won their league title.  Their defense was a big part of that and they return a solid core to have another top defense.  Sierra Grande returns 6 of their top 8 tackles and are led by Tyler Kester and Angelo Lucero.  Look for Sierra Grande to have another top defense this season.
North ParkTheir defense gave up 198 points last year which was 17th best in 6-man.  North Park was young last year and the experience gained will help them make huge strides this season.  North Park returns 7 of their top 8 tacklers including their top 3 from a year ago.  North Park will look for key leadership from Hunter Sessions, Evan Pieper, and Jayden Dailey.
