Valley Classic Update plus Weekly Wrestling Update by Carlos Valencia
Well fans, I was excited to attend the Valley Classic held in Center this past weekend and it lived up to its potential. The tournament had a lot of very good match ups through out the day. Some upsets happened and some matches went down to the wire. A couple matches that caught my eye were the 113lb final, where Caleb Camp of Buena Vista defeated Coen Schmidt of Merino 7-5 in SV. At 152lbs we saw number a #1 vs a #2 matchup as Eyan Chavez of Centauri beat Conner Blunt of Meeker 3-2. We saw Meeker win the team title by 4.5 points over #1 ranked Centuari. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in two weeks when these two teams compete for a regional title in Del Norte, CO.
This week teams will compete in alot of duals as well as league tournaments or will have the weekend off to rest. Some tournaments Im looking forward to are the Charger Invitational held by Crowley County, as well as the Sierra Grande Invitational held on Friday. These tournaments are good for kids who need matches and for a lot of JV kids to get one final tournament.
Good luck to all Wrestlers this weekend and rest up! The most important tournament is in a week. Can’t wait to see what happens. Until next week.
