6-Man Football League Predictions and Playoff Projections Week 7
We are 7 weeks into the regular season and all leagues have started league play. With that said I will be jumping much more into the CHSAA Seeding Index and possibly eliminate some teams from playoff contention. Also, at the end of the article I will be looking at Playoff Predictions and Projections.

League One
1. Fleming
2. North Park
2. Prairie
2. Briggsdale
5. Peetz
6. Weldon Valley
We are now two games deep into the league schedule in League One. Fleming sits atop the standings at 2-0. Fleming remains my pick to win league one. Fleming won’t face Prairie till 10/14 and Briggsdale on 10/21. Fleming sits at #2 in the Seeding Index and a near lock for the playoffs. After Fleming multiple options remain for who can finish in second place. North Park, Prairie, and Briggsdale could all end up in a tie for second place, so what I am doing is just talking about all three of them. North Park picked up a very big win over Briggsdale last week 54-34. That win not only moved them into the #2 spot but also jumped them up in the Seeding Index. North Park has a brutal schedule to end the year facing Deer Trail this week, Cotopaxi next week, and probably the game for second place against Prairie on 10/22. Prairie moved over .500 on the year. Prairie sits at #18 in the seeding index but have a good opportunity to improve their rating when they host Branson/Kim this Saturday. Prairie will still face Fleming and North Park as well so their rating could go up. Briggsdale dropped below .500 but a relatively easy schedule remains for them to end the year. Briggsdale has must win games against Peetz and Weldon Valley the next two weeks before a huge clash with Fleming on 10/21. Briggsdale sits at #17 in the Seeding Index, so they are in position to improve. Peetz I have eliminated from playoff contention but a upset of Briggsdale gets them back into consideration.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #2 Fleming, #13 North Park, #17 Briggsdale, #18 Prairie, #22 Peetz, #29 Weldon Valley
Playoff Contenders: Fleming, Prairie, North Park, Briggsdale
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Peetz, Weldon Valley
League Two
1. Stratton
2. Otis
3. Genoa-Hugo
4. Arickaree
5. Idalia
6. Hi-Plains
7. Flagler
We are three to four games into the league schedule in League Two. Stratton and Otis sit atop the standings at 3-0. Stratton and Otis both square off this week and one team will be sitting atop the league standings after this week. Stratton has the #1 Seeding Index and Otis sits at #4 so regardless both teams will stay in the top 6 after the result of the game. I am sticking with Stratton as my league champion pick. Genoa-Hugo is my pick to finish in 3rd and they sit at #5 in the Seeding Index. Genoa-Hugo will face Hi-Plains this week and should get the win. Arickaree is my pick to finish 4th and they sit at #7 in the Seeding Index. Arickaree will face Flagler this week, but I was told Flagler has forfeited their remaining games. Idalia is the main team to talk about in terms of being a bubble team. They sit at #19 in the Seeding Index and have just 3 games remaining. Idalia will face Genoa-Hugo, Hi-Plains, and Eads to end the year. Idalia probably needs to win 2 of the 3 games so an upset of Genoa-Hugo or Eads is probably needed to get into the playoffs. I have eliminated Hi-Plains from playoff contention this week.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #1 Stratton, #4 Otis, #5 Genoa-Hugo, #7 Arickaree, #19 Idalia, #25 Hi-Plains, #27 Flagler
Playoff Contenders: Stratton, Arickaree, Genoa-Hugo, Otis, Idalia
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Hi-Plains, Flagler
League Three
1. Deer Trail
2. Hanover
3. Miami-Yoder
4. Kiowa
5. Bethune
6. Manzanola
League three may be just the league champion getting into the playoffs. Deer Trail has the highest Seeding Index ranking at #14 and the next highest is Hanover at #20. With that information the league title race is the most important thing in this league. Deer Trail remains as my pick to win league three. Deer Trail still must face Hanover and Miami-Yoder. The Hanover game is the one I think decides the league title. Hanover remains as my pick to finish in second place. Hanover still must face the majority of the league, but I don’t see them being challenged until Deer Trail. I think only Kiowa has a shot at pushing for a playoff with the league title. They would need a ton to go their way, but they remain in playoff contention till they face Hanover on 10/15.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #14 Deer Trail, #20 Hanover, #26 Kiowa, #28 Bethune, #30 Miami-Yoder, #31 Manzanola
Playoff Contenders: Deer Trail, Hanover, Kiowa
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Miami-Yoder, Bethune, Manzanola
League Four
1. Granada
2. Cheyenne Wells
3. Cheraw
4. Eads
5. Walsh
6. Kit Carson
League Four will be the most exciting league race to watch. Granada remains atop the league standings at 3-0. Granada also remains my pick to win League Four. Granada this week will face Eads and if Granada wins this game, they clinch the League Four League Title. A loss makes things much more interesting. Granada sits at #3 in the Seeding Index. Eads sits at 2-1 in league play, and they face Granada this week. Eads with an upset would force a 3-way tie atop the standings and could give them a shot at winning the league title. Eads sits at #9 in the seeding Index and is a near lock for the playoffs. Cheyenne Wells remains my pick to finish in second place. Cheyenne Wells will face Walsh this week and look out for a very high scoring game. Cheyenne Wells with a win and Eads upset of Granada could still force a tie for the league championship. Cheyenne Wells sits at #8 in the Seeding Index. Walsh remains in the playoff picture at #15 in the seeding Index. Walsh will close the season against Cheyenne Wells, Cheraw and Manzanola. Two wins in their final three games probably gets them into the playoffs. The final team to talk about is Cheraw. Cheraw will face Kit Carson this week and Cheraw sits at #11 in the Seeding Index. Cheraw has 4 games remaining with 3 of the 4 being very winnable games. The toughest remaining game for Cheraw is Walsh on 10/15. Kit Carson is eliminated from playoff contention barring an upset in their final few games.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #3 Granada, #8 Cheyenne Wells, #9 Eads, #11 Cheraw, #15 Walsh, #21 Kit Carson
Playoff Contenders: Granada, Eads, Cheraw, Cheyenne Wells, Walsh
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Kit Carson
League Five
1. Branson/Kim
2. Cotopaxi
3. La Veta
4. Sierra Grande
5. Mountain Valley
6. Primero
7. Sangre De Cristo
Inside league 5 we are in full swing of league games. Branson/Kim remains atop the league standings and is my pick to win League 5. Branson/Kim cannot wrap up the league title till their game against La Veta on 10/22. Branson/Kim sits at #6 in the Seeding Index and they will play a non-league game against Prairie on Saturday. If Branson/Kim wins this game, they could probably see their hopes of a higher seed come true. Cotopaxi picked up a huge win last week over La Veta and jump into the #2 spot. Cotopaxi two league games remaining plus a couple big non-league games remaining. Cotopaxi sits at #10 in the seeding index, so they are no locked yet but in good shape. Cotopaxi will face Primero this Saturday. La Veta has hit their first losing streak of the season falling in back-to-back games. La Veta will look to bounce back this week against Sierra Grande and La Veta is hoping to stay just 1 game back of Branson/Kim who they face later in the season. La Veta sits at #12 in the seeding index and are on the bubble. Sierra Grande will face La Veta this week and is probably the biggest game in the league. Sierra Grande is also hoping to keep pace with league leader Branson/Kim. Sierra Grande is on the bubble at #16 in the seeding index and a win over La Veta would improve their hopes.
CHSAA Seeding Index: #6 Branson/Kim, #10 Cotopaxi, #12 La Veta, #16 Sierra Grande, #23 Primero, #24 Mountain Valley, #32 Sangre De Cristo
Playoff Contenders: Branson/Kim, La Veta, Sierra Grande, Cotopaxi
Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Primero, Mountain Valley, Sangre De Cristo
Playoff Projections & Predictions
What I have decided to do with 6-Man and 8-Man is combine my predictions and projections article since Kerry Sherman will be covering in more depth the league races. Remember to qualify for the playoffs you MUST Finish in the Top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index or WIN your league title.
6-Man Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)
This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues. In the 6-Man ranks all league champions are guaranteed a berth. The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index. Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index. I am picking my 11 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do. League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.
