6-Man Football League Predictions and Playoff Projections Week 9

We are 9 weeks into the regular season, and we are getting into crunch time territory.  If you are outside the top 20 of the Seeding Index more than likely your playoff hopes are gone.  Remember you must be inside the top 16 of the Seeding Index or win your league title.  Also, at the end of the article I will be looking at Playoff Predictions and Projections.

League One

1. Fleming

2. North Park

3. Prairie

4. Briggsdale

5. Peetz

6. Weldon Valley

The League Title in League One is decided this week when Fleming travels to face Briggsdale on Friday.  Fleming with the win wins the league title outright and gets the automatic berth.  If Briggsdale upsets Fleming it forces a three-way tie for first place.  I am sticking with Fleming to win the league title and lock up the automatic berth.  I have also locked Fleming into the playoff regardless of what happens the rest of the way.  Briggsdale on the other hand is on the bubble at #12 in the Seeding Index.  If Briggsdale loses they will hope their Seeding Index does not move too much.  With a win Briggsdale will be a lock for the playoffs.  Briggsdale will get a forfeit win over Flagler in their final game of the season and won’t do much for their Seeding Index.  North Park is a near lock, but I want to see the result of their game against Prairie this week.  A win they are a lock for the playoffs but if they lose, I want to see how much they drop in the seeding index.  Prairie is also on the bubble at #13 in the seeding index.  Prairie with a win over North Park punches their ticket to the playoffs.  A loss for Prairie and we will be watching their numbers in the final week of the season.  Prairie should win their final game against Hi-Plains, but that win won’t do a ton for their Seeding Index numbers.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #2 Fleming, #6 North Park, #12 Briggsdale, #13 Prairie, #21 Peetz, #24 Weldon Valley

Playoff Locks: Fleming

Playoff Contenders: North Park, Briggsdale, Prairie

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Peetz, Weldon Valley

League Two

1. Stratton

2. Otis

3. Genoa-Hugo

4. Arickaree

5. Idalia

6. Hi-Plains

7. Flagler

League Two also comes down to one game this week.  Stratton hosts Arickaree with the winner grabbing the league title and the automatic berth.  Stratton remains my pick to win the league title and they will be well rested coming off a bye last week.  Regardless, I believe Stratton is locked into the playoffs with the #1 spot in the seeding index.  Arickaree is also in very good position at #3 in the seeding index and I have them locked into a playoff spot.  Otis sits at #5 in the seeding index and barring a upset to Walsh in their final game Friday they are also a lock for the playoffs.  If Otis is upset, it could change things.  Genoa-Hugo is a near lock for the playoffs sitting at #8 in the seeding index.  I almost have them locked in but their final game on 10/28 against Hanover must be won.  Genoa-Hugo with a loss would be ok still, but it would push them closer to the bubble.  Genoa-Hugo has a bye this week.  Idalia is on the wrong side of the bubble currently.  Idalia sits at #17 in the seeding index and would be the first team out.  Idalia will face Hi-Plains this week which is a must win game and should boost Idalia RPI which in turn helps their Seeding Index.  Idalia closes the season against Eads and that game could be to secure a spot or make them wait things out on Selection Sunday.  We will be watching what happens to Hi-Plains numbers after this weeks game.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #1 Stratton, #3 Arickaree, #5 Otis, #8 Genoa-Hugo, #17 Idalia, #26 Flagler, #28 Hi-Plains

Playoff Locks: Stratton, Arickaree, Otis

Playoff Contenders: Genoa-Hugo, Idalia

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Hi-Plains, Flagler

League Three

1. Deer Trail

2. Hanover

3. Miami-Yoder

4. Kiowa

5. Bethune

6. Manzanola

League Three comes down to Hanover at Deer Trail Friday at 6pm.  Winner gets the automatic berth and the loser will need some help to get into the playoffs.  Deer Trail sits at #15 in the seeding index.  Deer Trail remains my pick to win the league title, but a loss and they will need to beat Cotopaxi in their final game of the season.  Hanover sits at #19 in the seeding index and a loss to Deer Trail means they must upset Genoa-Hugo and probably need some help to get into the playoffs.  Good Luck to both teams as they fight for the league title.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #15 Deer Trail, #19 Hanover, #25 Kiowa, #29 Bethune, #30 Miami-Yoder, #32 Manzanola

Playoff Contenders: Deer Trail, Hanover

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Kiowa, Miami-Yoder, Bethune, Manzanola

League Four

1. Granada

2. Cheyenne Wells

3. Cheraw

4. Eads

5. Walsh

6. Kit Carson

Granada is your League Four Champions.  Granada locked up the league title when Cheyenne Wells beat Eads this past weekend.  Granada locks up the automatic berth.  Granada will have a bye this week before a key non-league matchup with Sierra Grande that has big implications on seeding.  Cheyenne Wells finishes in second in League Four.  Cheyenne Wells in my opinion has also locked up a playoff spot.  Cheyenne Wells will also have a bye this week before a huge game against Branson/Kim on 10/29.  That game will have big implications if Cheyenne Wells or Branson/Kim hosts a first-round game.  Cheraw I also have locked into the playoffs.  Cheraw sits at #9 in the seeding index and as long as they beat Kiowa and Primero they will be in the playoffs.  A loss to either one of those teams and they will quickly be on the bubble.  Eads is a near lock for the playoffs but with two big games remaining against Miami-Yoder and Idalia, I cannot lock them in.  Eads sits at #10 in the seeding index.  I think Eads gets in as long as they beat Miami-Yoder this week, but that Idalia game does intrigue me.  Walsh is in danger of being eliminated from playoff contention.  They sit at #20 in the seeding index and need a key win.  Walsh will face Otis this Friday and an upset of Otis should push them into the top 16.  A loss to Otis and we will see what happens to their numbers.  Otis will also face Manzanola on 10/28 but I am not sure how much that win would boost Walsh.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #4 Granada, #7 Cheyenne Wells, #9 Cheraw, #10 Eads, #20 Walsh, #22 Kit Carson

Playoff Locks: Granada, Cheyenne Wells, Cheraw,

Playoff Contenders: Eads, Walsh

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Kit Carson

League Five

1. Branson/Kim

2. Cotopaxi

3. Sierra Grande

4. La Veta

5. Mountain Valley

6. Primero

7. Sangre De Cristo

Branson/Kim is your League Five Champion.  Branson/Kim locked up the league title with their win over Mountain Valley last week.  Branson/Kim must face La Veta and Cheyenne Wells in their final two games.  Branson/Kim sits at #11 in the seeding index and could still push for a home playoff game but need some wins.  La Veta is currently at #18 in the seeding index and would be the second team out.  La Veta will face Branson/Kim this week and Kiowa in their final game.  If La Veta falls to Branson/Kim, then we will see what happens to their numbers and if a win over Kiowa would be enough to get them back to #16.  La Veta with a win over Branson/Kim should be enough to get them into the top 15 if not higher.  Sierra Grande sits at #14 in the seeding index, and they host Cotopaxi this week.  This is a huge game.  The winner between Sierra Grande and Cotopaxi locks up a playoff spot with the loser needing a win or some help in their final game of the season.  Sierra Grande closes up the season against Granada.  Cotopaxi sits at #16 in the seeding index and close up the season against Deer Trail.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #11 Branson/Kim, #14 Sierra Grande, #16 Cotopaxi, #18 La Veta, #23 Mountain Valley, #27 Primero, #31 Sangre De Cristo

Playoff Locks: Branson/Kim

Playoff Contenders: La Veta, Sierra Grande, Cotopaxi

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Primero, Mountain Valley, Sangre De Cristo

Playoff Projections & Predictions

What I have decided to do with 6-Man and 8-Man is combine my predictions and projections article since Kerry Sherman will be covering in more depth the league races.  Remember to qualify for the playoffs you MUST Finish in the Top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index or WIN your league title.

6-Man Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues.  In the 6-Man ranks all league champions are guaranteed a berth.  The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index.  Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index.  I am picking my 11 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do.  League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.
