6-Man Football Playoff Outlook and Playoff Projections Week 10

6-Man Football League Predictions and Playoff Projections Week 10

Final week of the regular season and for most teams their last hopes of getting into the playoffs or improving your seed. If you are outside the top 20 of the Seeding Index more than likely your playoff hopes are gone.  Remember you must be inside the top 16 of the Seeding Index or win your league title.  Also, at the end of the article I will be looking at Playoff Predictions and Projections.

League One

1. Fleming

2. North Park

3. Briggsdale

4. Prairie

5. Peetz

6. Weldon Valley

Fleming is your League One Champion.  Fleming will get the automatic berth into the playoffs.  Fleming though will still be looking to improve their seed.  Fleming will host #1 Stratton this week and winner will be the #1 seed.  North Park is a lock to get into the playoffs.  North Park locked their spot up with a big 41-22 win over Prairie last week.  North Park will close the season against Mountain Valley.  North Park with a win should stay in the top 8 and host a first-round game.  Briggsdale is on the bubble at #13 in the seeding index.  Briggsdale will get a forfeit win over Flagler this week and that won’t do much to help their playoff hopes. I believe Briggsdale will be in, but nothing is certain.  Prairie is the final team to talk about in terms of playoff hopes.  Prairie sits at #14 in the seeding index and are also on the bubble.  Prairie will close the season against Hi-Plains and won’t do much to help their numbers, but a loss would derail their season.  This is a must win for Prairie.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #2 Fleming, #6 North Park, #13 Briggsdale, #14 Prairie, #21 Peetz, #25 Weldon Valley

League Champion: Fleming

Playoff Locks: North Park

Playoff Contenders: Briggsdale, Prairie

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Peetz, Weldon Valley

League Two

1. Stratton

2. Genoa-Hugo

3. Arickaree

4. Otis

5. Idalia

6. Hi-Plains

7. Flagler

Stratton is your League Two Champion.  Stratton locked up the league title with a 66-14 win over Arickaree.  Stratton will now look to lock up the #1 seed when they travel to face Fleming this week.  This game will determine the #1 or #2 seed.  Genoa-Hugo will finish in second place in League Two and now look to try and improve their seed.  Genoa-Hugo sits at #8 in the seeding index and would host a first-round game today.  Genoa-Hugo will face Hanover this week and a win over Hanover should be enough to keep a first-round home game and possibly improve their seed.  Arickaree will finish in third in League Two.  Arickaree sits at #4 in the seeding index and are a lock to make the playoffs.  Arickaree has finished their regular season schedule and will look to get healthy and rest before playoff kick off next week.  If the season ended today Arickaree would be the #4 seed.  Otis finishes 4th in league Two and sit at #5 in the seeding index.  Otis is also a lock to make the playoffs and they have also finished their regular season schedule.  Otis will also look to get healthy and rest before the playoff brackets come out next week.  Idalia is the final team to talk about and Idalia is on the bubble.  Idalia sits at #16 in the seeding index, and they close their season against Eads at home.  Idalia currently would not get into the playoff because Hanover is your League Three Champion and sit at #18.  Idalia needs to jump into the #15 spot and winning is probably the only way.  We also have three teams tied at #16 Idalia, Cotopaxi, and Hanover.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #1 Stratton, #4 Arickaree, #5 Otis, #8 Genoa-Hugo, #16 Idalia, #26 Flagler, #28 Hi-Plains

League Champion: Stratton

Playoff Locks: Arickaree, Otis, Genoa-Hugo

Playoff Contenders: Idalia

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Hi-Plains, Flagler

League Three

1. Hanover

2. Deer Trail

3. Kiowa

4. Miami-Yoder

5. Bethune

6. Manzanola

Hanover is your League Three Champion.  They get the automatic berth into the playoffs, and they will look to try and improve their seed.  Hanover will face Genoa-Hugo this week and a win over Genoa-Hugo should jump them up the Seeding Index.  Deer Trail is the only other team who has a shot at the playoffs.  Deer Trail sits at #19 and they close their season against Cotopaxi who sits at #17.  Winner of this game will give themselves a shot at the playoffs and the loser will be eliminated.  Winner of this game will see a big jump to their RPI and could be the difference to getting into the playoffs.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #18 Hanover, #19 Deer Trail, #24 Kiowa, #29 Miami-Yoder, #30 Bethune, #32 Manzanola

League Champion: Hanover

Playoff Contenders: Deer Trail

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Kiowa, Miami-Yoder, Bethune, Manzanola

League Four

1. Granada

2. Cheyenne Wells

3. Cheraw

4. Eads

5. Walsh

6. Kit Carson

Granada is your League Four Champions.  Granada will now look to keep a top 4 seed and they will be challenged in their final game when they travel to face Sierra Grande.  This should be a great game with lots of seeding implications on the line.  Cheyenne Wells finishes in second place in League Four and sit at #7 in the seeding index.  Cheyenne Wells will travel to face Branson/Kim this week, and this is another big game with seeding implications on the line.  Cheyenne Wells with a win should host a first-round game but a loss could see them fall out of the top 8.  Cheraw finishes in third place in League Four, but they are a bit closer to the bubble sitting at #11 in the seeding index.  I have Cheraw locked into the playoff currently but if they lose to Primero in their final game they could fall out of the playoffs.  Cheraw, I believe cannot host a first-round game but could be a very dangerous double-digit seed.  Eads finishes in fourth place in League Four and they sit at #9 in the seeding index.  Eads is a lock for the playoffs, but they play a very important game against Idalia on Friday Night.  Eads still has a shot at hosting a first-round game and defeating Idalia gives them that shot.  Eads with a loss to Idalia puts them closer to the bubble but I believe still a lock to get into the playoffs.  Walsh is the final team to mention, and they sit at #20 in the seeding index.  I do not believe Walsh can make the playoffs and they have been eliminated from playoff contention.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #3 Granada, #7 Cheyenne Wells, #9 Eads, #11 Cheraw, #20 Walsh, #22 Kit Carson

League Champion: Granada

Playoff Locks: Cheyenne Wells, Eads, Cheraw

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Walsh, Kit Carson

League Five

1. Branson/Kim

2. Sierra Grande

3. Cotopaxi

4. La Veta

5. Mountain Valley

6. Primero

7. Sangre De Cristo

Branson/Kim is your League Five Champion.  Branson/Kim now is hunting for a first-round playoff game, and they can help their case with a win over Cheyenne Wells this Saturday.  A loss and they will more than likely be on the road.  Sierra Grande finishes in second place in League Five.  Sierra Grande, I believe is locked into the playoffs, but they will also look to improve their seed.  Sierra Grande will host Granada this Friday.  Cotopaxi finishes in third place in League Five but are currently on the outside looking in.  Cotopaxi sits at #17 in the Seeding Index, and they will host Deer Trail this Friday.  Cotopaxi with a win over Deer Trail gives themselves a shot at the playoffs.  A loss and they cannot make the playoffs.  La Veta is the final team to mention, and they sit at #15 in the Seeding Index and would be the final team in.  La Veta is being chased for that final spot by 3 teams.  La Veta will close their season with a game against Kiowa.  This is a must win first and foremost.  La Veta with a win won’t see much change to their numbers but at least gives them a shot at holding off teams for the final spot.

CHSAA Seeding Index: #10 Branson/Kim, #12 Sierra Grande, #15 La Veta, #17 Cotopaxi, #23 Mountain Valley, #27 Primero, #31 Sangre De Cristo

League Champion: Branson/Kim

Playoff Locks: Sierra Grande

Playoff Contenders: La Veta, Cotopaxi

Eliminated from Playoff Contention: Primero, Mountain Valley, Sangre De Cristo

Playoff Projections & Predictions

What I have decided to do with 6-Man and 8-Man is combine my predictions and projections article since Kerry Sherman will be covering in more depth the league races.  Remember to qualify for the playoffs you MUST Finish in the Top 16 of the CHSAA Seeding Index or WIN your league title.

6-Man Playoff Predictions (Who I think make the playoffs)

This is who I think make the playoffs and who win the leagues.  In the 6-Man ranks all league champions are guaranteed a berth.  The rest will be selected by CHSAA Seeding Index.  Seeding is determined by CHSAA Seeding Index.  I am picking my 11 At-Large teams via non-league schedules, remaining schedules, and how I think teams will do.  League Champions are posted first then the At-Large Teams.

#13 Sierra Grande (12)

#14 Briggsdale (13)

#15 Cotopaxi (17)

#16 Prairie (14)

Bubble Teams

La Veta, Idalia, Deer Trail

Plenty to discuss here. If Cotopaxi beats Deer Trail their RPI will jump possibly to #13 and they will get into the playoffs. If Cotopaxi loses and La Veta wins then La Veta will get into that spot. The big question mark is Idalia vs Eads. If Idalia beats Eads then their RPI will still sit around #17 but their Maxpreps will jump possibly to #12 and that would get them in and possibly Prairie could miss the playoffs. So, much still up in the air if you are sitting #14 thru #18 in the seeding index still lots to fight for. The games to watch for are Cotopaxi vs Deer Trail and Idalia vs Eads.
