Top Games and a Look to the Playoff Class 3A thru 5A by Jeremiah Johnson

We look at this week’s top games as both class 5A and 4A are in there last week of regular season play, and 3A is down to the final 2 weeks. We start off in 5A where 3 leagues are still up for grabs with the chance of 3-way ties in all three.

#6 Grandview plays at #1 Cherry Creek, if Cherry Creek wins, they will win league 4 and secure the #1 overall seed for the playoffs, however if Grandview wins and #9 Arapahoe beats #15 Eaglecrest then there would be a 3-way tie.

#2 Valor Christian goes to #13 Mountain Vista with league 5 still up for grabs, the league scenario breaks down like this:

Valor wins league with a win.

Mountain Vista wins league with a win and #8 ThunderRidge losing @ #10 Rock Canyon.

ThunderRidge can force a 3-way tie with a win and a Mountain Vista win.

The last league championship game yet to be decided is league 7 where #28 Doherty hosts #34 Overland, if Doherty wins, they are in the playoffs, however if they lose, they open the door for both #34 Overland and #29 Denver East, either way winner of this league will more than likely knock out a top 24 team from the playoffs.

5A teams who have clinched league championships and a guaranteed playoff berth are:

#3 Ralston Valley (league 1)

#4 Regis Jesuit (league 6)

#11 Fairview (league 3)

#12 Legacy (League 2)

Now let’s shift over to class 4A where 4 league championships are up for grabs.

#5 Montrose controls their destiny as they host #13 Pueblo West, Montrose wins, and they win the league but if they lose, they open the door for both Pueblo West and #10 Mesa Ridge.

#2 Broomfield travels to #7 Heritage for league 7 Championship.

#17 Widefield goes to #32 Liberty for the winner takes all league 8 championship, if Liberty wins, they will knock out a top 24 team from the playoffs.

And finally, our top 4A game of the week has #1 Palmer Ridge @ #8 Vista Ridge for the league 3 championship, get your popcorn ready for this game as I guarantee this game will be more then exciting.

4A teams who have clinched league championships and a guaranteed playoff berth are:

#4 Loveland (league 1)

#6 Denver South (league 5)

#11 Erie (league 2)

#12 Golden (league 6)

Finally, we have the 3A where every league is still up for battle as no one has secured league championship yet.

We start with league 1 as #19 Harrison travels south to play #15 Pueblo Central in a winner takes all, and more then likely loser is out of the playoff picture.

#1 Roosevelt can win league 7 with a win @ #10 Thompson Valley.

#2 Durango hosts #14 Palisade where with a win by Durango they will be crowned league 3 Champions.

#12 East @ #25 Discovery Canyon in league 2 action, with Pueblo County watching closely as they can still win league by winning out and having Discovery Canyon lose 1 game. Meaning next weeks Pueblo County @ Pueblo East game could be for the championship and a playoff berth.

#6 Northridge @ #8 Resurrection Christian.

#4 Green Mountain can win league 4 with a win at home against #27 Littleton.
