MileHigh Prep Report Boys Basketball Week 8 Rankings (Class 4A thru 1A)

We move deeper and deeper into January and I feel this is when things really start to matter in terms of Districts, Regionals, and State.  I feel the basketball season has 4 parts.  Part 1 is before Christmas, Part 2 is after Christmas/League Play, Part 3 is the District Tournament/Regionals, and Part 4 is the State Tournament.  Also, this week look for an article by Kerry Sherman on 1A Boys and Girls basketball.

Class 3A

 Last Week Result
1. Faith Christian (11-0)1 (5 weeks)
2. Salida (9-1)2
3. Centauri (10-2)3
4. Highland (8-2)4

10. Roaring Fork (9-4)NR
Others: Brush, Windsor Charter, Lake County, Ellicott, Woodland Park, C.S Christian, Cedaredge, Dropped out: C.S Christian (5)
Notes: We have a big change in Class 3A this week.  C.S Christian goes from #5 to falling out of the rankings.  C.S Christian lost 3 straight games.  Finding a new team was no easy task.  I have decided to go with a team on a hot streak and that is Roaring Fork.  They started the season rough but a 7 game winning streak plus a quality win over Cedaredge give them the edge at #10.

Class 2A

 Last Year’s Results
1. Limon (8-0)1 (5 weeks)
2. Crowley County (13-0)2
3. Wray (7-4)3
4. Simla (8-2)6
5. Evangelical Christian (9-0)5
6. Merino (7-3)7
7. Heritage Christian (7-3)NR
8. Holly (9-2)10
9. Byers (6-4)8
10. Custer County (7-2)3
Others: Wiggins, Sanford, Del Norte, Plateau Valley, Front Range Christian, Cotopaxi, Hoehne, Vail Christian, Fowler Dropped out: Wiggins (9)
Notes: We have movement once again in the Class 2A rankings.  Custer County gets upset by Cotopaxi and fall from #3 to #10.  They barely edge out 4 other teams for the #10 spot.  Heritage Christian joins the rankings after a pair of quality wins over Briggsdale and Wiggins.  Plenty still to be sorted out in Class 2A especially in the South Central part of the state.

Class 1A

 Last Year’s Results
1. Belleview Christian (13-0)1 (3 weeks)
2. Denver Jewish Day (8-1)2
3. McClave (7-3)3
4. Genoa-Hugo (7-3)4
5. Flatirons Academy (9-2)5
6. Cheyenne Wells (5-5)10
7. Cheraw (7-3)6
8. Wiley (8-2)10
9. Dove Creek (9-2)9
10. Briggsdale (5-2)7
Others: Pikes Peak Christian, Centennial, Arickaree, Stratton, Fleming, Otis Dropped out: None
Notes:  No new teams this week in Class 1A.  We do have plenty of movement inside the top 10.  Cheyenne Wells continues to play well since break picking up their 4th win in a row and that was over Cheraw.  Cheyenne Wells jumps to #6 in the rankings.  Another team that falls is Briggsdale as they drop to #10 after falling to Heritage Christian which is still a quality loss.
