Class 2A Regional Volleyball Predictions
Here are my Predictions on who is going to win the 12 regionals taking place this weekend. I will give a quick breakdown of why I am picking each team to win. Full Preview of the Class 2A Regional will be posted tomorrow.

Region 1
Winner: Wiggins
Wiggins will be the favorite to win Region 1 and probably most people’s favorite to win the Class 2A State Title. Wiggins got a great draw and will face Denver Christian & Grand Valley. I don’t see much of a test for Wiggins in Region 1.
Region 2
Winner: Rye
Rye will be the favorite to win Region 2 and my pick to win Region 2. Rye had a great season with just two losses on the season to Lamar and Fowler. Rye, I think could get a test by Holyoke in their afternoon game. Holyoke seems to be a good threat especially with the schedule they played. The third team in Region 2 is Telluride.
Region 3
Winner: Sedgwick County
Sedgwick County will be the favorite to win Region 3 and my pick to win Region 3. Sedgwick County played a tough schedule with all 6 loses coming against teams also hosting regionals in their respective classes. Buena Vista will be the biggest threat to Sedgwick County, but I see Sedgwick County walking thru this region. The third team in this region is Heritage Christian.
Region 4
Winner: Front Range Christian
Front Range Christian will be the favorite to win Region 4 and my pick to win Region 4. Front Range Christian lost just two matches all season to Banning Lewis and Strasburg. Front Range Christian has turned things around since that loss and also got a good draw in this region. Sanford & St. Mary’s could both pull the upset but will have to play error free Volleyball.
Region 5
Winner: Mancos
Mancos will be the favorite to win Region 5 and my pick to win Region 5. Mancos had a great season this year going 21-2. Both loses are quality losses to 1A Dove Creek and Elizabeth. Mancos, I think got a tough draw in this region with Sargent and Olathe. I think Sargent could challenge Mancos, but I believe are still one year away from really pushing for State.
Region 6
Winner: Plateau Valley
Plateau Valley will be the favorite to win Region 6 and my pick to win Region 6. Plateau Valley had a great run this season going 21-2 with losses to Vail Christian and Meeker. Plateau Valley does lack a quality win besides their win over Vail Christian back in August. That is my biggest concern. I do think Plateau Valley got a great draw. Not a lot is known about Loveland Classical and Del Norte is young this season.
Region 7
Winner: Hoehne
Hoehne will be the favorite to win Region 7 and my pick to win Region 7. Hoehne played a tough schedule this season going 17-6. Hoehne has played against key opponents in Swink, La Veta, Del Norte, Rye, Alamosa, Fowler, Sargent, and Rye. Hoehne also did not get any favors in their draw for Regionals. Yuma at 12-10 is more than capable of pulling an upset and Burlington has played tough against top competition. Hoehne, I think escapes from this region, but I wouldn’t be surprised if an upset comes from this region.
Region 8
Winner: Strasburg
Strasburg will be the favorite to win Region 8 and my pick to win Region 8. Strasburg started the season slow going 4-4 but played against top teams like Timnath, Jefferson Academy, and Liberty Common. Strasburg ended the season winning 6 straight and look poised to push for state. Rangely appears to be the main challenger in this region. Rangely is 15-7 but struggled against the top teams in the Western Slope. Also, Wray could push Strasburg as well as they won 6 of their last 7 games.
Region 9
Winner: Vail Christian
Vail Christian will be the favorite in region 9 and my pick to win Region 9. This will be one of the more interesting regions. Vail Christian won the Western Slope League and finished the year 17-4. Vail Christian has just one puzzling loss to Lyons which makes things more interesting at the end of the season. Vail Christian did get a good draw in this region with Ignacio and Byers. I think Ignacio has some potential to possibly pull the upset, but they did struggle against top teams like Mancos & Dove Creek.
Region 10
Winner: Lake County
Lake County will be the favorite in region 10 and my pick to win Region 10. This in my opinion is one of the toughest regions in Class 2A. Lake County went 22-1 to end the season with their lone loss coming to 3A Fort Lupton. Lake County did end the year winning their final two games. Lake County did not get any favors with this regional draw having Meeker and Trinidad. Trinidad started the year on fire but lost 5 straight games to end the season and falling from hosting to the #27 seed. Meeker ended the season 14-9 and have tradition on their side. I think Meeker could push Lake County for this regional title.
Region 11
Winner: Calhan
Calhan will be the favorite in region 11 and my pick to win Region 11. This is another very tough region and would not be surprised to see an upset in this region. Calhan went 21-2 this season with losses to Simla and Little Snake River WY. Calhan was the team to beat in the Black Forest League. Calhan does have quality wins over La Veta, Peyton, and Limon. I do think Calhan has a tough draw in Swink and Dayspring Christian. Swink I think is the main challenger and they ended their season red hot including wins over Del Norte and Fowler.
Region 12
Winner: Fowler
Fowler will be the favorite in Region 12 and my pick to win Region 12. In my opinion the toughest region in Class 2A. Fowler did not get any favors with the draw and will face tough competition from both Lyons and Limon. Fowler ended the year on a 3-game losing streak after dropping three straights at one point. I am leaning Folwer in this region because they played a very tough schedule. Lyons and Limon are both tough enough to push Fowler.
