Class 1A Regional Volleyball Predictions
Here are my Predictions on who is going to win the 12 regionals taking place this weekend. I will give a quick breakdown of why I am picking each team to win. Full Preview of the Class 1A Regional will be posted later this week by Kerry Sherman.

Region 1
#1 Simla over #24 Peetz
Simla has proven to be one of the best teams in Class 1A. They have dominated all year long. Peetz should be excited to take a shot at the #1 team and that they qualified for Regionals.
Region 2
#2 McClave over #23 Holly
McClave has been a top 5 team all season long. They have taken some stumbles but have still been one of the better teams in 1A. Holly had a huge bounce back year and look to pull off a huge upset.
Region 3
#3 Swink over #22 Rocky Mountain Lutheran
Swink has been another consistent top team in Class 1A. They have key wins over other top 10 teams in Class 1A. Rocky Mountain Lutheran has a solid record but they have not played the other top teams in Class 1A.
Region 4
#4 Cheraw over #21 Primero
Cheraw has had a solid season including a few key wins over other top 8 teams. Cheraw look to keep into rolling into regionals. Primero had a great run to end the season to qualify for the Class 1A Regional Tournament.
Region 5
#5 Granada over #20 Briggsdale
This matchup could be one to keep an eye on. Briggsdale is a perennial State Tournament team and could challenge a very good Granada team. Granada has proven to be a top team in 1A this year and have the fire power to make a deep state tournament run.
Region 6
#6 Sargent over #19 Wiley
Sargent did not have the toughest schedule having to play the 1A Southern Peaks League Schedule. Sargent did find other tough games to play against 2A teams in Dolores, Ignacio, Wiggins, and Merino. Wiley will look to take their shot at a top 8 team.
Region 7
#7 Hi-Plains over #18 Elbert
Hi-Plains played a tough schedule and it shows with their losses coming to top 1A and 2A team. Hi-Plains can play with the best of teams picking up nice wins over Cheraw and Caliche. Elbert did not play the toughest schedule this season but did end the year picking up key wins over CS School and Rocky Mountain Lutheran.
Region 8
#8 Prairie over #17 Mile High Academy
Prairie ended their season on a 4-game winning streak including key wins over Haxtun and Idalia. Prairie will have to play up to their potential to avoid an upset. Mile High Academy only has four losses on the season but they played a weak schedule. They did end the year picking up a key win over Rocky Mountain Lutheran. They just don’t have the tough schedule that other 1A teams played.
Region 9
#9 Plateau Valley over #16 South Baca
Plateau Valley played a tough 1A/2A schedule and should be battle tested to make a run for the state tournament. Plateau Valley picked up nice wins over 2A Cedaredge, 3A Delta, and 2A North Fork. South Baca finished the year winning 6-straight games including key wins over Holly and Wiley. South Baca will look to take their shot at an upset. This should be a good regional game.
Region 10
#10 Caliche over #15 Stratton
Regions 9 thru #12 all should be great matchups. This one could be one of the better matchups. Caliche ended the year winning three straight games with a key win over Briggsdale. Caliche also has key wins over Peetz, Akron, and Haxtun. Most of Caliche losses are to top teams in 2A and 1A. Stratton is a perennial state tournament team and they will need to pull an upset to get in. Stratton did end the year playing a very tough slate of 2A teams that should have them battle tested for Caliche.
Region 11
#11 Haxtun over #14 Eads
Haxtun will look to make a trip back to the state tournament and ended the year strong to stay in the top 12. Haxtun won 4 of their last 5 games including key wins over Otis, Akron, and Stratton. Haxtun played a tough schedule. Eads also made a great run towards the end of the year to get into a solid regional matchup. Eads won 4 of their last 6 matches including a key win over Holly. Can Eads pull the upset?
Region 12
#12 Flagler over #13 Otis
In my opinion the best regional matchup. Both teams at some point have been ranked in the top 10 of the MHPR Rankings and both have been inside the top 12 CHSAA Rankings. Flagler jumped into the top 12 with three straight wins to end the year with key wins over Burlington & Briggsdale. Flagler will need to play a full matchup to avoid the upset. Otis also ended the year winning 4 straight games including key wins over Peetz and Eads. Otis has shown they can hang with the top teams but must put a full match together to snag the upset.
