MileHigh Prep Report Preseason Class 2A Girls Basketball Rankings
Class 2A Girls should be very competitive this season with some top teams coming back and some teams looking to take the next step. Class 2A is a bit more open this year but plenty of top teams looking for a state title. Lots of talent returning and looking forward to the 2021 season. Remember we do have changes for the postseason with only 24 teams getting into the postseason instead of 32 teams.
Class 1A
| Rank | Team | Notes |
| #1 | Rye Made the State Tournament, Lost in Great 8 | Rye reached the Great 8 last season and had a 24-0 record entering the Great 8. Rye was then upset by a defensive minded Sanford team. Rye gained valuable experience and should help this team reach farther in the State Tournament. |
| #2 | Holyoke Made the State Tournament, Reached the Semifinals | Holyoke reached the Semifinals last year and ended the season with a 24-1 record. Holyoke returns POY candidate Kristin Vieselmeyer and she should help provide the scoring Holyoke needs for a deep run. Depth will be key for this Holyoke team this year, but I expect them to have a big season. |
| #3 | Sanford Made the State Tournament, Reached the Semifinals | Sanford reached the Semifinals last year after pulling the upset of Rye in the Great 8. Sanford will have to replace a key senior leader but have a tough junior class to become leaders. Defensively Sanford may be one of the best in the State and it showed in the tournament last year. |
| #4 | Wray Made the State Tournament, Lost in Great 8 | Wray reached the Great 8 a season ago before falling to Del Norte. Wray returns 3 of their top 5 scorers and should be poised for a deeper run. Wray is a team I have my eye on to try and upset Holyoke for the league crown. |
| #5 | Limon Made the State Tournament, Reached the Semifinals | Limon reached the semifinals last year defeating Holly in the first round. Limon will have a few holes to fill with 4 of their top 5 scorers graduating. Limon will have their top scorer back Trista Marx and she will be the leader of a young Limon team. |
| #6 | Rocky Ford Qualified for Regionals, lost to Ignacio | Rocky Ford fell one win short of reaching the State Tournament a year ago losing to Ignacio. Rocky Ford will return nearly their entire roster including their top 5 scorers. POY candidate Abi Snyder will look to lead this team to the Great 8 and farther. |
| #7 | Ignacio Made the State Tournament, lost in Great 8 | Ignacio reached the Great 8 last season but fell to Holyoke. Ignacio will have to replace their senior leader and #1 scorer from last year, but the rest of the roster returns to lead a tough Ignacio squad. Ignacio will be looking for a return trip to the Great 8. |
| #8 | Soroco Qualified for Regionals, lost to Holyoke | Soroco qualified for Regionals last year but fell by 9 to Holyoke in the Regionals Finals. Soroco will return their top 5 scorers from a year ago and will be poised to win the very tough Western Slope League. Soroco will have their eyes set on a Great 8 spot this season. |
| #9 | Cedaredge Qualified for State Tournament lost in Round of 32 in 3A | Cedaredge drops from Class 3A down to Class 2A and should be a threat right away. Cedaredge returns 4 of their top 5 scorers and will be looking to win the Western Slope League and a trip into the Great 8 and farther. Kammie Henderson must be considered a POY candidate in their first year in Class 2A. |
| #10 | Sedgwick County Qualified for Regionals, lost to Hotchkiss | Sedgwick County had a very successful season last year reaching Regionals but fell in the first round to Hotchkiss. Sedgwick County returns nearly their entire roster including their top 4 scorers. Sedgwick County will look to move past Yuma and the other top teams in their league. |
| Other Teams to Watch | Yuma, Del Norte, Meeker, Colorado Springs School, Peyton, Rangely, Center, Lyons, Hotchkiss, Heritage Christian, Fowler, Holly, |
