MileHigh Prep Report Preseason 6-Man Football Rankings

We are getting closer and closer to the start of the football season.  Official Practice Starts Monday.  Next week I will start doing league predictions from 2A thru 6-Man.  This is my top 16 preseason rankings.  6-Man will be a battle this year with plenty of talent returning.  I believe we are going to try and do somewhat of a media poll this season but here are my Preseason Rankings.  I am excited to see what the Coaches Poll looks like come August if they continue to do a coach’s poll.  I move to 6-Man Football next week. Good Luck to all teams this season!

6-Man

RankTeamNotes
#1Stratton

Made the Playoffs, Runners Up
Stratton reached the State Championship but came up short falling to Cheyenne Wells in the State Championship.  Stratton will have a few key players to replace on offense losing their top rusher from last season, but Stratton can replace him with Alex Cruz and Cyler Notter.  At QB Charlie Tagtmeyer is the returning starter and will look to continue to improve from last season.  Defensively Stratton returns 6 of their top 8 tacklers including 3 of their top 4.  Stratton defensively be one of the top units in 6-Man this season.
#2Granada

Made the playoffs, lost in the Semifinals
Granada reached the semifinals for the second straight year but fell to the Stratton in the Semifinals.  Granada will be looking to break the hump of falling in the semifinals this season.  Granada will be searching for a new QB this season but will have weapons all round for the new QB.  WR Maddox Coleman, RB Jonus Guevara, and FB/OL John Hainer are all back.  Defensively Granada will return 7 of their top 8 tacklers including 3 of their top 4.  This unit should be inside the top 6 this season.
#3Fleming

Made the playoffs, lost in the Quarterfinals
Fleming reached the Quarterfinals a season ago but fell to Idalia.  Fleming will be looking for a deeper run and will return a senior heavy team this season.  Fleming offensively returns QB Braylen Feather along with top rusher Nolan Japp and Blake Feather.  Fleming is another team with tons of offensive potential this season.  Defensively Fleming returns 5 of their top 8 tacklers but only 2 of their top 4.  Fleming last season had a top 5 defense and look for them to reach that potential again once leadership steps up.
#4Cheyenne Wells

Defending State Champions
Cheyenne Wells is your defending state champions.  Cheyenne Wells will have some big holes to fill losing a phenomenal senior class but some key leadership from last years team does come back.  QB Blake Gilmore is back along RB/Ath Ty Scheler.  Those two were key to Cheyenne Wells run so look for their leadership with a young offensive team.  Defensively Cheyenne Wells returns just 2 of their top 8 tacklers but Ty Scheler will be a leader with over 80 tackles last season.  Cheyenne Wells is well coached so don’t expect much of a letdown this season.
#5Prairie

Made the playoffs, lost in the Quarterfinals
Prairie reached the Quarterfinals last season before falling to eventual State Champions Cheyenne Wells.  Prairie will be under a new head coach this season but don’t expect much of a letdown.  Prairie will be in search of a new QB but return 1000-yard rusher Claytin Hove who must step up as a leader.  Defensively Prairie will look to improve to a top 10 unit this season and could returning 4 of their top 8 tacklers but key leadership returns with 3 of their top 4 tacklers coming back from last season.
#6Branson/Kim

Made the playoffs, lost in the first round
Branson/Kim made the playoffs last season but fell in the first round to Sierra Grande.  Branson/Kim will return a young team this season, but a new QB must be found.  Branson/Kim will return their main workhorse in RB Peyton Cranson.  Defensively Branson/Kim returns 6 of their top 8 tacklers including their top 4 tacklers from last season.  Branson/Kim could be a top 3 defensive unit and look out for the rushing attack of Branson/Kim.
#7Idalia     Made the playoffs, lost in the SemifinalsIdalia reached the semifinals last year before falling to Cheyenne Wells.  Idalia offensively will have key weapons back with QB Tarek Glanz coming back along with #2 RB Kye Towns.  Some senior leadership on the rest of the offense must step up though.  Defensively Idalia returns just 3 of their top 8 tacklers and this unit must step up quickly.  Idalia will lean heavy on those 3 returning tacklers to be leaders early in the season.
#8Walsh

Missed the playoffs, went 3-7 last season
Walsh missed the playoffs a season ago but gained valuable experience for a young team.  Walsh offensively returns QB Leyton Jones who must continue to be a leader for a young team.  Walsh must develop other player makers to help Jones out this season.  Defensively Walsh returns their top 8 tacklers, and this unit must continue to improve.  Walsh could be a surprise team this season and they are mostly Juniors.
#9Cheraw

Made the playoffs, lost in the Quarterfinals
Cheraw reached the playoffs a season ago but fell to Stratton in the Quarterfinals.  Cheraw offensively will turn to QB Tim Provost and RB Braeden Harris to continue to be leaders and improve this season.  Defensively Cheraw returns 5 of their top 8 tacklers including 3 of their top 4.  Cheraw must improve defensively from outside the top 16 to inside the top 12.  Cheraw is another team who could make some noise if the QB position comes together.
#10North Park

Missed the playoffs, went 5-5 last season.
North Park missed the playoffs last season but strides as a team winning 5 games and showing improved play throughout the season.  North Park will return QB Hunter Sessions but will look for a new #1 RB.  #2 RB Cameron Gonzales is back and look for him to see his role expand.  Defensively North Park returns 7 of their top 8 tacklers including their top 4 from a season ago.  North Park is another team who could make some noise with a senior heavy team.
#11Arickaree

Made the playoffs, lost in the first round
Arickaree reached the playoffs a season ago before falling to Cheraw in the first round.  Arickaree will look for a deeper run this season.  Arickaree will return QB/RB Logan Wright but other play makers for Arickaree must step up this season.  Defensively Arickaree should improve this year returning 6 of their top 8 tacklers including 3 of their top 4.  If the defense for Arickaree steps up, then we could see them make a deep run.
#12Genoa-Hugo

Made the playoffs, lost in the first round
Genoa-Hugo reached the playoffs a season ago but fell in the first round to Prairie.  Genoa-Hugo will have some key seniors gone from that team but key leadership does return in QB Trey Smith.  Genoa-Hugo will need other play makers to step up this season but a good senior leader at QB will help.  Defensively Genoa-Hugo will return 5 of their top 8 tacklers but key leadership is gone.  Look for new leaders like Jack Kissel and Logan Sitzman to step up this season.
#13Sierra Grande

Made the playoffs, lost in the Quarterfinals
Sierra Grande had a great season a year ago reaching the Quarterfinals before falling to Granada.  Sierra Grande will lose some key pieces from last years team but look for new starters in QB Aron Ojeda and returning RB Angelo Lucero to lead this offense.  Defensively Sierra Grande will return 4 of their top 8 tacklers but have key leadership coming back in Tyler Kester and Angelo Lucero.
#14Briggsdale

Made the playoffs, lost in the First Round
Briggsdale reached the playoffs last season but fell in the first round to Idalia.  Briggsdale offensively will be looking for new play makers to step up but look for WR/RB Tanner Fiscus, QB Zach Bauer, and RB Shane Donoho to all step up and be leaders this season.  Defensively Briggsdale will return 4 of their top 8 tacklers including their top 2 tacklers in Tanner Fiscus and Johnathon Malovich.  Briggsdale, I think could surprise some teams this season and look for the athletes Briggsdale has to step up.
#15Eads

Made the playoffs, lost in the first round
Eads reached the playoffs last season but fell in the first round to Stratton.  Eads had key senior leadership graduate but have key play makers returning in Porter Spady and Bo Arnold.  Eads must get leadership to step up this season on both sides of the ball and they could push again for a playoff spot.
#16Otis

Missed the playoffs, went 4-6 last season
Otis missed the playoffs last season but was a very young team with multiple sophomores and freshman stepping up last season.  Otis offensively will turn to QB Carter Wells and RB Tayte Smith.  Defensively Otis returns their top 8 tacklers from last season and this unit could be a top 10 unit.  Otis has a good mix of Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores but can this team step up to get them back into the playoffs is the biggest question mark.
