8-Man Football State Championship Breakdown

Two of the top 3 teams of the state meet up and for most of the year the top two teams in 8-Man.  Sedgwick County will be looking for the 5 Peat and Fowler will be looking to take down the Giant at the top of the mountain.

#1 Sedgwick County vs #3 Fowler

Sedgwick County moved into the state championship with the 48 to 0 victory over Dayspring Christian.  Sedgwick County beat a team for the second time this year and both in impressive fashion.  Sedgwick County jumped out to a quick 12 to 0 lead after the 1st.  Sedgwick County continued rolling adding 16 in the second quarter and taking the demanding 28 to 0 lead into halftime.  Sedgwick County would continue to dominate adding 12 more in the 3rd quarter to get the running clock going and move into the state championship.  Defensively Sedgwick County did give up some yards but two turnovers and big plays when they matter were the difference.  Dayspring Christina was also without Christian Still.  Sedgwick County was led in tackles by Terrance Heath and Trevor Barowsky.  Offensively Sedgwick County had a big day racking up 475 yards of total offense.  QB Jared Ehmke had 233 yards passing.  The rushing attack had 353 yards and most were by RB Beau Parker who had 261 yards rushing and 4 TDs.  Sedgwick County has dominated all season and are looking to make history this weekend.  This weekend Sedgwick County defense will be tested by a solid rushing attack and a passing attack that can make plays off play action.  Offensively Sedgwick County will be tested by a top 3 defense but really look for Jared Ehmke and Beau Parker to take over this game for Sedgwick County.

Fowler moved into the state championship with the 20 to 12 come from behind victory over Pikes Peak Christian.  Fowler for the second straight week got out to a slow start but overcame that to win.  Pikes Peak Christian jumped out to the 6 to 0 lead over Fowler after the 1st quarter.  Pikes Peak Christian struck again making it 12 to 0 early in the second quarter.  Fowler wouldn’t go away and would get on the board on the next possession making it 12 to 6 with 7 minutes to go.  Fowler would then go on a big drive and score with less than a minute left before halftime and get the two point conversion to take the 14 to 12 lead over Pikes Peak Christian.  After half both teams defense came up big but Fowler with less than a minute left in the 3rd quarter would get into the endzone and make the lead 20 to 12.  Fowler defense would make 3 stops in the 4th quarter to move into the state championship.  Fowler defensively gave up 250 yards rushing to Pikes Peak Christian but made critical stops to prevent things from getting out of hand.  Fowler forced 1 turnover in the game and 1 sack.  Fowler was led in tackles by Gabriel Proctor and Orin Carnes.  Offensively Fowler had a solid day racking up 329 yards of total offense.  QB Luke Bitter hit two big passes for 74 yards and the rushing game had 255 yards.  The rushing attack was led by Luke Bitter (90 yards) and Jackson Bates (68 yards).  Fowler has also ran the table this season but will have to play their best game of the season from start to finish this week.  Defensively Fowler is facing a very good rushing attack and a passing attack that can take over games.  Fowler offensively must find a way to move the ball.  Not many teams this season have had success against Sedgwick County but Fowler must find a way.  Fowler must turn to their leaders on both sides of the ball to pull the upset.

Sedgwick County has ruled over the 8-man ranks and I think this could be their toughest test this season.  Fowler comes in with a top 3 defense and a top 3 offense.  Fowler will have to play their best game of the season.  Sedgwick County easily has the best defense in 8-Man and a top 3 offense as well.  Sedgwick County will look for the 5-Peat but must focus on this game.  I do think this will be an interesting game.  If Fowler defense can rise up and slow down Sedgwick County offense, then this could turn into a game.  Sedgwick County defense has proven they can slow nearly everyone down, which is why I think it comes down to Fowler defense.  I am going with Sedgwick County in this game.  I just think Sedgwick County defense is to good and this will help them win this game.  I do think this will be a close game and not a mercy rule game.  Good Luck to both teams!
